Oh Winchesters, will you ever learn? Despite always vowing to never make a deal with a monster or a demon, here they are making deals with Crowley AND the Alpha Vampire. It won’t end well.

But I actually love it when Sam and Dean have to get their hands dirty and make these deals. Plus, the Alpha Vampire is a great character and his “See you next season” was an even more obvious meta joke than last week’s “Crowley ain’t the problem this year” to clue us in that season 8 is gonna be super awesome if it’s all about Crowley and the Alpha Vampire.

Also, how can you not love Dean’s hilarious reaction to no longer being able to eat pie. First his BFF Cas. Then his Impala. Then his surrogate papa Bobby. Now his pie? The Leviathans have taken EVERYTHING Dean loves away from him. They might as well take over the body of AC/DC’s Angus Young.

This was, overall, a fantastic set-up for the finale. The rules are clearly defined (kill Dick and…pray that everything works out after that) and there are so many people in play. There’s Crowley and Ghost Bobby, Cas and Meg, Kevin Tran and the boys. I have no idea how it’s all gonna end up, but I can’t wait.

If past season finales have taught us anything, it’s that it won’t end well for Sam and Dean. Usually one of them ends up dead.

I need a nap. I feel like the show crammed more mythology and new info into this episode than in all 20 that came before it.

Seriously, between Kevin the Prophet, the Word of God from Metatron, the Garrison angels, the Wordkeeper and everything else, it was jam-packed with info. And that’s a good thing.

I’m obsessed with the show’s mythology, so an episode full of it is right up my alley.

I know I criticized the last Cas episode, but it’s only because it felt like the first half of something. This is the second half, and now I like it. I loved Cas this week, and not just because everything he said was hilarious (kudos to writer/director Ben Edlund for making every word out of Castiel’s mouth genius). I really got the sense that he was sorry (him holding up a giant sign that said so helped). Even his chat with Sam was all about how Cas is really at peace with being so tortured, because he knows he deserves it. I like crazy, zen Cas.

Also, I love Kevin Tran. It’s about time someone reacted exactly how you should react when angels show up and crazy stuff happens. The show is really on fire this season with guest stars (Frank, Garth, Charlie) and Kevin is super cool.

And as a die-hard Crowley fan, I loved the comment about how he’s not a danger this year, but Meg knows he’s always a problem. I’m pretty sure the show just set up the big story arc for season 8. At least I hope they did.

The writing was excellent, the new plot developments and characters were extraordinary and, most importantly, we finally know how to kill a Leviathan (I can’t wait to how they deal with the whole bone of a righteous mortal thing).

Basically, combined with last week, the show is on its way to having a fantastic end to an uneven season.

It’s hardly a surprise since they already hired Jeremy Carver as a new showrunner for next season, but it’s good to make it official. So don’t worry, Sam and Dean will be back on TV next year! Assuming they stop the 2012 Mayan apocalypse.
