As Tweeted by Danneel herself, she gave birth to a daughter named Justice Jay Ackles, or J.J. That’s a pretty awesome name, I must say.  So now both Jensen and Jared are proud papas! We wish the Ackles family and their newest arrival all the happiness in the world.

Fun Fact: Little J.J. Ackles shares her birthday with none other than Supernatural‘s Mark Sheppard, aka Crowley, the King of Hell!

The show is up for Choice TV Show – Fantasy/Sci-Fi, up against Once Upon a Time and fellow CW shows Arrow, The Vampire Diaries and Beauty and the Beast.

And for Choice TV Actor – Fantasy/Sci-Fi, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are BOTH nominated, competing against The Vampire Diaries‘ Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley as well as Arrow‘s Stephen Amell. Clearly teens love the CW.

SPN has long been a favorite at the Teen Choice Awards. It was nominated for the same three awards last year and these new nominations bring the show’s total to 12 noms, though oddly it has never won.

In unrelated (but perhaps more exciting) news, Supernatural alum Jim Beaver scored a Critics Choice Award nomination for Guest Performer in a Drama Series for his work on Justified.  It’s not directly tied to SPN, but I’m still darn excited that Beaver is finally getting the credit he deserves.

Yes, despite airing on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday over the past eight seasons, Supernatural originally debuted Tuesdays at 9pm on the WB back in 2005, so think of this as a homecoming.

It’s also a pretty decent time slot because it’s lead-in will be the Vampire Diaries spin-off The Originals at 8pm. As I expected, superhero drama The Tomorrow People is taking over Wednesdays at 9pm.

I love me some SPN finale! That closing image of all the angels falling from Heaven? Gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful. Especially because I’ve been annoyed by the whole Angel Civil War storyline basically puttering along in the background over the past three seasons, and with ALL of the angels now trapped on Earth, I’m guessing Angels will be the main storyline of season 9.

But let’s back up to all the great stuff in this episode, because there was a LOT.

-”Carry On, My Wayward Son.” Just listening to that song while watching scenes from the past season in “The Road So Far” puts me in the perfect mood to LOVE whatever comes next.

-Sheriff Mills! So great to bring her back, and in a dress. Luckily she survived her blind date with “Roderick.”

-Crowley’s ringtone is “Baby Got Back.” Love it.

–Sam’s scenes with Crowley were solid, but the best had to be when Crowley, who was starting to get cured, went on that massive rant comparing himself to Lena Dunham’s character on HBO’s Girls. That was probably my single favorite scene all season.

-I guess Alaina Huffman is gone, but hopefully they bring Abaddon back in a new meat suit.

-So is Crowley mostly cured now? Because the notion of him becoming a good guy and wanting to help the Winchesters could be highly entertaining.

-I’m a little disappointed the whole “what’s happening to Sam?” thing at the end got totally hijacked by falling angels. Is he dying?

-How didn’t I see that Metatron was a bad guy? Of course he’s a bad guy, It’s the first rule of Supernatural: Never trust anyone new.

-Admit it, you knew the bartender would find love with another man, right? As funny as it was, this show relies on gay love a little too much. It always seems to save the day, whether it’s with the Ghostfacers or the LARPers at the fan convention. Or Charlie and the fairy.

-So Cas is human. His Grace is gone. That’s an interesting little twist for season 9. Seeing as how the show is at its best when Cas is doing human things (shopping, visiting a brothel), I’m stoked Misha will be a series regular again.

Overall, a pretty solid ending. It had very funny moments, very dramatic moments, a huge game change with the angels and all the lights in the Men of Letters HQ turned on. Nice job, now let’s get to fall already.

Well, they certainly packed a whole lot into this episode. Maybe too much. I wish they spaced this stuff out more over the final few episodes, because some of it felt kind of rushed.

We have Sam and Dean learning how to cure a demon with some new form of exorcism, Crowley making a last-ditch effort to save himself by killing Sam and Dean’s old saves and, as if that’s not enough, there’s this whole new storyline with Cas trying to close the Gates of Heaven.

I’ll start with that last one first. I like the symmetry of closing Heaven and Hell, but I feel like it should’ve been introduced sooner. Like, the Metatron episode should’ve been maybe two weeks earlier so it didn’t feel like they added this at the last minute. Also, it feels a bit repetitive. Someone comes up with a big plan to stop the fighting and unify all the angels? Isn’t that kind of what’s been going on for about three whole seasons?

But does it really matter when you have a scene of Cas grocery shopping and demanding pie? This show needs to have Cas do regular, human things more often, because it’s always fantastic.

As for the demon cure, I like bringing back Abaddon, and wow, that scene of her saving herself by having her hand yank the bullet out was so cool.

The Crowley stuff was also quite clever. How cool and weird was it seeing season 1 flashbacks (especially Sam’s hair). More importantly, I loved that they killed off Sarah. Having someone they saved die in front of their eyes really raises the stakes and made Crowley’s evil plan even more sinister, especially since he quoted back their family motto. In fact, that whole monologue by Crowley was well-written.

The only other real highlight for this episode was the MoL HQ having a dungeon. Of course it has a dungeon. Best set ever. It’s like the TARDIS on Doctor Who, they could literally have anything they want in there. Maybe it has its own bowling alley. Or an old-school arcade with air hockey! Or a professional grade pizza oven. The possibilities are endless.

There seemed to be a whole lot of plot in this episode, probably to set up the final two hours of season 8. The result was a whole bunch of great stuff.

Kevin’s back with Sam and Dean after standing his ground against Crowley and the fake Sam and Dean (how great were all those scnes of Crowley directing?). Though, if I’m being honest, they didn’t really NEED Kevin since Metatron already knew the third trial.

Also, I can’t decide if all the random Garth references this season are just for the sake of plot, or because his whereabouts will be important. Probably the former.

Kevin’s video message to Sam and Dean really stood out for me. I loved watching him be angry about the fact that he’s probably dead, but still recognize that the mission is important.

Every time the show references Biggersons, it makes me smile. Especially since they have an item that is “Heart Smart, Beer-Battered.” That’s just funny.

What’s cooler, bullets with a Devil’s Trap carved on them or bullets made out of angel-killing swords? Cuz they’re both kinda bad-ass.

Finally, can we all agree that the “Sam is becoming God” theory is the best way to explain what’s happening to him? He’s being “purified” (cleanliness is next to Godliness), he can hear Metatron’s frequency and he has a crystal clear memory about things that happened when he was very, very young, almost like he’s becoming omniscient (at least about his own history).

All signs point to Sam becoming God, even Metatron, who literally used the phrase “becoming God” in the episode to describe writing a book.
