It’s the last episode of 2012, so savor every last bit, because SPN is going into hibernation until mid-January. Post your thoughts on tonight’s Benny-centric mid-season finale. Click HERE for my full recap.
I can successfully recap this episode with a simple math equation:
Vampire + Crazy Person = Bad
Crazy Martin was the perfect match to light the powder keg of Benny and Dean’s relationship. The ending was inevitable and I suspect even Sam kinda knew it. There’s no way he could honestly believe a guy just released from the nut house a month ago would be able to make rational decisions, but that’s not what Sam wanted.
I’m torn on Dean this week. On the one hand, he seemed to genuinely accept the fact that, IF Benny were behind the vamp attacks, he would need to be killed. So Dean is completely insane.
On the other hand, the trick he did with the phone to get Sam out of town was just plain mean. He used the one thing Sam cares about against him. Can you imagine how Dean would react if Sam pulled that crap with Lisa?
So, of course, the boys are fighting. It makes sense, but to be honest, I’m kind of over it. The boys are ALWAYS fighting and at least once every season they have a huge blow–up, go their separate ways for an episode or two, then bury the hatchet. It just seems so familiar.
Also, is Don really just a good guy? He took that whole “You were sleeping with my wife” thing pretty well and handled it with maturity and respect. I’m unfamiliar with such things as someone who watches a lot of TV.
And in that final scene, was it just me or was Sam’s head shaking a little too much. It looked like that wall was falling down in his head again, but Cas allegedly took all that bad stuff out of his mind or something. I was never totally clear on how that worked.
Now we have to wait until January 16 (which happens to be my birthday, so that’s a nice present for me) when Cas tells Sam and Dean to “stow your crap,” which I declare to be the unofficial motto of the Winchester brothers’ relationship. They should just stow their crap all the time and everything would be fine.
I don’t like that your friend is a vampire. Stow your crap, Sam!
I resent that you gave up hunting after I vanished. Stow your crap, Dean!
