Congrats to ‘SPN’ on 2 People’s Choice Wins

Wednesday night was the People’s Choice Awards, and Supernatural won two awards! Not only did the who when for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Series (beating shows like Once Upon a Time, The Vampire Diaries and The Walking Dead), but all of you won as well for Favorite TV Fan Following. Yes, the SPN Family beat those pesky Gleeks and Little Liars to prove that we are the greatest TV fandom in all the land!

Sadly, both Jensen and Jared lost out to Castle’s Nathan Fillion for Favorite TV Drama Actor, though if you have to lose to someone, he’s a pretty awesome actor to lose to.

This makes five all-time People’s Choice Awards for the show as it previously won Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show in 2012 and 2010.

Now, for you enjoyment, here’s a red carpet photo of Jensen (who is very daring with the color) and his pregnant wife Danneel.

  2. Did anyone notice the boys were matching? So cute. The wives looked beautiful tonight as well. Congrats on the wins. It was good to see so much of them, they had good seats.

  3. Te Js lost to the bst Damatic actor …cause face it folks Supernatural has become more a sci-fi comedy than the hardcore drama it used to be in seasons 1,2 & 3.

Its now more like a Buffy type sci-fi show than like a Walking Dead OR Revolution series where no comedy is allowed.

  5. I knew they’d win! I don’t know about the fandom, though. A lot of people come here just to complain, which I really don’t get. Anyway, Jensen looked very handsome and his wife looks great.

  6. Jensen and Jared looked so great and loved the matching colors! So happy they won “best sci-fi” and loved seeing the scenes that were shown for the actor category. Nathan mentioning Jensen cracked me up. The wives looked marvelous. It was cool they showed the two couples sitting together and did anyone catch that look of admiration of Jared’s at Nathan when he was making his speech??

  7. @ ozzie: They didn’t lose because Nathan is the best dramatic actor. It wasn’t hard to figure out who would win the day they first announced who was running, because both SPN and VD votes would be split.

That said, I like Nathan from his Firefly days, so congratulations to him on his win.

  8. Just love the boys on Supernatural. They have an awesome chemistry between the two and it’s no wonder that the show won. I did put in my vote for Jared for best actor (even though I’ve been a fan of Nathan’s since his One Life to Live days). Thanks for giving us a great shows to keep us entertained.

  9. Congrats to the whole Supernatural-Team, the awards are well deserved. Jared, Jensen and their wives looked great. I really love them - Supernatural is still the best show ever! Can’t wait to see the next episode!

  10. It is more likely that the vote was split between the two J’s, making it rather obvious that another actor would win because of said split. I love Castle, so if the J’s couldn’t get the vote, then it was nice to see Nathan win it. Loved his joking around about Jensen.

Both guys looked great in their coordinated suits, and the wives looked gorgeous. Congrats again to the soon to be parents!

  11. It is so gratifying to see Supernatural being acknowldged and winning two awards. Love the picture of Jensen and Danneel. Such a gorgeous couple. Just wondering though, where is the picture of Jared and Genieve?

    Comment by Carol — January 11, 2013 @ 7:37 am

  12. #11 Yes, I was wondering that also. No bias here. Nope, none what so ever.

Ah well, congrats to both the J’s and all connected with Supernatural for such an incredible show.

  13. I do believe the reason is not bias that Jensen and Danneel (and not Jared and Gen) are pictured here but that it is a great picture of the parents to be. No one made snide remarks when it was Jared pictured without Jensen. To say it is biased is biased. I love seeing any pictures of the boys, never upset when it is just Jared/Sam (and there have been plenty). I’m just glad that the show did well and the upcoming momma and dad look fantastic.

  14. Supernatural has always (well it use to be)comedic. I’ve watched season 1 & 2 recently, and I forgot how much I laughed out loud in every episode. It use to not take itself so seriously. That is one of the reasons what attracted me to the show (The Winchester brothers is the biggest reason though!). I never saw SPN as hardcore in the early years. Just look at the Season 1 DVD set. It lists hilarious in it’s description. Even the scary stuff sometimes had a funny edge to it at times. I think a lot of people have stopped watching it because a lot of the comedic aspect has fallen off some what.

  15. Wow @twinster your seeing a different SPN then I HAVE FOR 8 seasons. Dean was always funny on SPN for seasons 1,2 & 3.

It was never however in your face cheap slap stick comedy that now not Dean so much …but Goofy Garth and crazy Castiel have been used to do .

There was never anything funny about Bloody Mary..or Wendingo, or Home, or the Woman in White /The pilot…Dean was funny but it was wonderful natural comedy like in Hell House.

God I miss those season type eppies too. Hardcore drama not campy Harry Potter type crap that Gambles produced and Carver too continues to do.

Ratings fall every season and its not because of the lack of comedy but too much comedy and terrible writing and Sam and Dean being used ad window dressing to tell us about Benny, and his gf and his grandaughter..and Castiel & more angels, and Kevin Tran & his tiger mommy& Charlie…and Boring Amelia and her hubby.
NO BOBBY…NO ALPHA MALE VAMP…HARDLEY any Crowley too and no Bromance ALL = another awful SPN season 8….and I still wanna know why Sam did not LOOK FOR DEAN…DAMMIT.?

    Comment by ozzie — January 11, 2013 @ 8:21 pm

  16. Well, I didn’t say all the eps but many had great elements of comedy and usually because of Dean. Sam as well could be funny but Dean was the one who carried a lot of the comic snarking so to speak. He’s the one that would have me ROTFL during the first 3 seasons. Sure, there were some great dramatic eps in seasons 1-3 that had me just ache for Dean (Faith, Home, etc…), but there seemed to be a turn to very serious take on the later seasons (when the Angel and Hell story came on board). My brother is one who stopped watching because a lot of the comedic part was missing and he thought the show was taking itself way too seriously. I always thought that SPN had a great balance of horror, drama, and comedic aspects the first 3 seasons, then a bit too much gore later and not enough of the comedic parts that I liked best (Dean being Dean). I’m like you, I didn’t enjoy others trying to take over the comedic aspects. And when I mean comedic, I don’t mean slapstick but more of Dean’s snarky comments and some of the situations the boys would find themselves in.

I too want the bromance back, and would love to see the Alpha Vamp (what a great character). And yeah, why didn’t Sam look for Dean? Why is he so angry? I don’t get the Samelia thing, she is just so cold and bla (that story has no link at all to the supernatural as some have pointed out). Can’t wait to see the backside of her! I’m not sure the show can have a good romantic story. Romance doesn’t seem to work on SPN (I certainly don’t watch it for romance!).

I’m looking forward though to the upcoming episodes. I need my weekly dose of Dean and Sam, and if I have to take it with some of the vinegar, so be it. Will always watch the show because of those two and what they bring to the show. Now, if we could just get to the crux of the matter and find out what is going on with Sam’s weird funk, and some more kick ass Dean, I will be a happy camper!!!

  17. OH, and nothing funny about Wendigo? I found a lot of funny lines in that one episode alone. SPN can have a serious episode and still have some really funny things going on. The whole m&m thing, Dean’s shoes, and the running around in an abandoned mine. Come on, classic making fun of that horror trope! That is one of the first eps in season one where I realized they could do horror, drama, and comedy all in one show! That is what makes SPN great!

  18. This is a section about how well Supernatural done at Peoples Choice, yet STILL there’s ones that think it’ll be a good idea to come here and have a good moan about the show. Talk about buzzkill.. quit the constant complaining, it’s tiresome.

    Comment by Leigh — January 12, 2013 @ 2:17 am

  19. The great thing about those comedy episodes was that at the end, it still would have a serious theme. I’ll use ‘Wishful Thinking’ as an example. I thought it was hilarious but at the end, it turned serious when Dean admitted to Sam that he remembered what happened to him in Hell, but that Sam, at that point, could never understand. Or how about ‘Mistery
Spot’, which was LOL funny but ended up very serious in the end.

    Comment by roxi — January 12, 2013 @ 5:23 am

  20. roxi, that is what I love about SPN, all of the aspects of supernatural: drama, horror, and comedy all wrapped up together. A very hard thing to do. If the show loses it’s funny parts, I don’t know if I’d enjoy it anymore.

    Comment by twinster — January 12, 2013 @ 8:50 am

  21. Leigh, just about every section ever posted has gone off on other tangents, just look at the one on Citizen Fang: do you think there could possibly be almost a 1,000 comments on one ep? It’s normal for a subject to get side tracked. There really hasn’t been that much moaning on this thread, most of it is just conversation on how we enjoyed the fact that SPN won on PCA, and how some of us see the show as horror, drama, comedy, etc…This show could fall into a lot of categories for Awards.

roxi, I agree about Wishful Thinking. There are some outright hysterical parts (the bear, LOL!)but in the end it was very serious, too. And of course Mystery Spot was quite funny, too until the end. Not many shows can combine the different elements like SPN! That is what keeps me tuned every week besides the Winchesters!

  22. If the boys had to lose against someone I’m glad it was Nathan Fillion. I’ve loved him since his brown coat days. He’s a great actor. I think the boys and their wives looked great at the awards show. Daneel must not be too far along because she doesn’t seem to be showing yet to me. Either that or her dress concealed it well. I’m happy for their wins though…glad to see my couple hundred votes weren’t for nothing.

  23. Daneel looked like she was 2 or 3 months and I think the Ackles said their baby is due in end of June???

    Comment by ozzie — January 13, 2013 @ 7:33 am

  24. If the Ackles baby is born after June 20th then its a Cancer like @jarpad..which is cute ..since baby Thomas is a Pisces like his uncle Jensen.

    Comment by ozzie — January 13, 2013 @ 7:36 am

  25. I think next year if they are both nominated again we should all agree to vote for one of them I say jensen gets even years and jared gets odds years. I think if we all agree to vote for one actor then that actor will certainly win. and the following year we can all agree to vote for the other actor.
