 I've
recently been lucky enough to be in contact with the peeps
at 'Supernatural,' and was given the chance to
ask John Shiban a couple of questions. John is one of the
show's executive producers as well as a head writer, so
it really was an honor to have him spare a few minutes for
us!
Add
to that fact that Mr. Shiban wrote one of my favorite episodes,
'Skin' and you have a very happy webmaster!
So,
on with the show. I asked three of our posters to come up
with a couple of questions, and this was Mr. Shiban's response:
Do
you feel that Sam’s powers and their potential development
overshadow the human aspect of the show or detract from
the importance of both brothers?
Not
at all. Supernatural has always been about family -- the
Winchesters facing a grave evil. Sam’s abilities/powers
are a family problem – Dean is deeply concerned for
his brother and wonders like Sam what the Demon meant when
he said there are plans for Sam and the children like him.
Could
we be seeing returning characters in the forethcoming season?
During Season One, Sam and Dean encountered
a number of characters who were "players." Friends or colleagues
of John Winchester, they were folks like Bobby who are aware
of the supernatural forces among us? and are fighting and
hunting to destroy evil. In Season Two, we'll meet more
players - some of whom will become recurring characters
- some will help, others hinder. We'll be expanding the
world of Supernatural in some very cool ways.
Do
you feel the show can focus more on the human aspect of
the Winchester family dynamics without taking away from
the supernatural element?
Again,
our show is about family. The Winchesters and the supernatural
are irreparably tied together. The Winchester family dynamics
are driven by their encounters with the supernatural –
when we focus on one, we’re focusing on the other.
Finally,
do you have a message to all the fans out there eagerly
awaiting season 2?
Get ready to get scared!

Mediaweek
have posted an article suggesting the CW might be close
to a deal with MSN to 'stream' some of it's fall premieres
a week early! 'Supernatural' is listed as in the
running, although there is no official word on this as of
yet...
