Cabin- The scene opens up where Salvation
left off. Dean tries to call his dad, and Meg answers
the phone, telling him he’ll never see his father
again. Dean hangs up and tells Sam the bad news. Both
boys are distraught. Dean begins to pack hastily, saying
the demon knows where they are, they have to leave.
Sam wants to stay and try to kill it, but Dean says
no they’re leaving, now!
Cut to Impala, night- Dean says they
need a plan, the demons must bee keeping their dad to
get the Colt. Sam isn’t convinced. He thinks dad
might be dead, and they should still try to kill the
demon. Eventually, Dean still wins the argument that
dad is alive- now they have to find him. Reluctantly,
Dean acknowledges they need help and hits the gas harder.
Auto Salvage Yard- Dean and Sam have
gone to an old family friend, Bobby. Bobby gives dean
a flask of holy water, and one with whiskey. Dean thanks
their old friend for agreeing to help, even though Bobby
threatened to shoot John once.
Bobby shows the boys a book called ‘The Key of
Solomon.’ It tells how to catch a demon and hold
it powerless inside a protective circle. He also tells
the Winchesters he normally hears of three or four demonic
possessions a year, and so far he knows of twenty-seven
already. More and more demons are walking the earth-
something big and bad is going to go down, and the Winchesters
are stuck right in the middle. Bobby’s dog begins
to bark and suddenly the house door bursts open- it’s
Meg. Meg walks in and accuses the boys of being sloppy.
She tosses Dean against a wall and demands the Colt.
Sam and Bobby back up, saying they buried it. Meg is
‘under whelmed.’ She can’t believe
they thought she wouldn’t find them. Dean gets
up and says ‘actually, we were counting on it.’
They’ve tricked Meg into a protective circle on
the ceiling!
The boys and Bobby have Meg tied up in a chair under
the circle. Dean asks where John is, but Meg keeps saying
he’s dead. Dean ends up slapping her, but Meg
simply says ‘that’s kind of a turn on.’
Bobby takes Dean to one side and tells him Meg is possessed
– there’s a real girl trapped inside he
could hurt. Dean says that could be good news.
Sam gets out their journal and begins an exorcism.
Dean says they’ll stop if she tells them where
their father is. Meg resists for awhile, but eventually
the demon within can take no more. She says John IS
still alive, in a building in Jefferson, Missouri, but
she doesn’t know the address. Sam asks if the
demon is their too, but she says she doesn’t know.
Dean nods to Sam to finish the exorcism. Sam is reluctant.
He says they may be able to use her. To a point, Bobby
agrees. If they exorcise Meg, she will die from the
injuries she sustained when she fell from the building.
(see Shadow) Dean still insists on the exorcism saying
it’s not to leave the girl in the torment of possession.
Sam completes the ceremony and the real Meg is left-
a broken shell, bleeding, but not quite dead. Bobby
goes to call for an ambulance while the boys try to
make her comfortable. She thanks them for freeing her.
Dean asks if the demon told the truth about John. She
says yes. Sam asks where the main demon is, but she
doesn’t know. All she knows is John is being kept
by the river. Her last word is ‘Sunrise’
and Meg dies.
Cut to the boys leaving- Bobby says
they should hurry and go before the medics arrive. Dean
asks what Bobby will say and he laughs, explaining the
Winchesters aren’t the ones who invented lying
to the cops. He also gives them the ‘Key of Solomon’
book and tells them to keep safe. We see the Impala
drive off.
Outside Impala, Jefferson- Sam is
reading ‘The Key of Solomon’ while Dean
loads up several guns etc. Sam begins drawing on the
Impala’s trunk. He explains the symbols are called
a ‘Devil’s Trap’ and demons can’t
pass through one- it turns the car’s trunk into
a lockbox. Sam says they should put the Colt in there
while they go save dad. Dean wants to take it with them
as it might help save their father. Sam doesn’t
like that. He insists the gun is left behind. We see
Dean reluctantly put the gun in the trunk, but he has
a strange look on his face.
Jefferson, along the river’s edge-
Sam and dean are scoping out building along the water
when Dean spots one called ‘Sunrise Apartments.’
There are lots of kids outside- what better way to stop
the boys? They can’t exactly go gung ho with kids
around, so how do they get in? Dean suggests pulling
the fire alarm.
Inside the apartments main entrance-
Sam sneaks covertly in and sets off the fire alarm.
In one of the apartments we see a couple. They have
John tied to a bed, and make no effort to move when
the alarm sounds. Within seven minutes there are fire
crews everywhere outside. While Dean keeps a fireman
busy, Sam picks the lock on one of the fire rigs.
Cut back to inside apartment building-
We see two fully kitted out firemen searching the halls-one
has an EMF meter! Yup, Sam and Dean have stolen uniforms
to gain entry. Dean gets a reading and the boys knock
on the room door, masquerading as firemen. The couple
are wary, and Sam and Dean have to burst in. They have
holy water in their extinguishers, and fight the couple
into a closet, placing salt in front of the door so
they can’t get out.
The boys take off the uniforms and find their father
in the bedroom- he’s alive. Sam sprinkles holy
water on him just to check he isn’t possessed,
but nothing happens. John awakens, and says he’s
been drugged. He asks about the Colt.
Outside- A person in the crowd feels
strange, his eyes turn black and we know he’s
been possessed. He heads for the building, and when
he’s stopped by a fireman, the fireman ends up
being possessed too. Together they go after the Winchesters.
Inside- Just as Sam and Dean are dragging
their dad out, the two possessed men burst in. The boys
lock themselves in a room and place salt at the door
while they climb down the fire exit. At the bottom of
the exit, Meg’s male demon friend from Salvation
attacks Sam, pinning him to the floor and repeatedly
beating him! Dean kicks the demon, but is tossed onto
a car hood. The demon continues to beat on Sam until
WHAM, he’s shot through the skull and dies. It
seems Dean defied Sam and still brought the Colt along.
Now they only have two bullets! Sam, dean and John make
good their escape.
Cabin, night- Sam is salting all the
windows and doors and asks about their dad. Dean says
dad just needs a rest. Sam then thanks Dean for saving
him. As Sam walks across the room, Dean confesses that
he is scared about what he is willing to do or kill
for his family. He doesn’t even hesitate. John
walks out and say Dean shouldn’t feel that way.
Dean is surprised his father isn’t mad he wasted
a bullet that was meant to kill the main demon. The
lights begin to flicker and John goes to the window.
He says the demon has found them. He sends Sam to check
the windows and doors again, and then asks Dean for
the Colt. Dean is suspicious. His dad is acting strangely.
He knows the demon has possessed John! Dean pulls the
Colt on his dad and Sam re-enters. Despite John’s
pleas, Sam trusts Dean. John says if they’re so
sure, they should kill him. When Dean doesn’t
pull the trigger, the demon shows his true self. He
tosses Sam and Dean across the room and takes the Colt.
Sam is pinned to the wall. He asks why the holy water
didn’t work and the demon/John grins- apparently
something like that won’t work on him. Sam threatens
to kill the demon, and the demon thinks it’s funny.
He places the Colt down, daring Sam to use his powers
to drag the gun to him. Sam can’t. The demon explains
he thinks this is kind of funny. He wants to make the
Winchesters pay this way because its justice. Apparently,
the demon within Meg, and the one Dean shot with the
Colt were his children!
Sam asks why the demon killed Jessica and their mom.
The demon explains they got in the way of his plans-
his plans for Sam, and all the children like him. Dean
insults the demon’s’ ‘monologues’
and the demon walks over to him. It says Sam was always
John’s favourite, and despite what Dean thinks
they don’t need him as much as he needs them.
Dean says I bet you’re real proud of your kids
too, huh, but oh, I forgot, I wasted em.’ The
demon doesn’t like this and begins to torture
Dean. Blood pours from his mouth and chest, although
the demon never moves. Dean pleads for his father within
to help him and at the last minute, John gets control
over the demon just for a split second. During this
time, Sam is freed from his pin hold and grabs the Colt.
Then, the demon is back. He says if Sam shoots he’ll
kill his father. Sam knows this and shoots John in the
leg. He falls to the floor, as does Dean. Sam rushes
to his brother’s side- he’s lost a lot of
blood. Dean insists Sam checks on their dad.
John awakes and begs for Sam to shoot him. The demon
is still within him! Sam hesitates as Dean begs him
not to do it. In that instant, the demon leaves John
and escapes.
Impala on the road, night- Sammy is
driving, John is in the passenger seat. Dean is in the
rear, obviously still seriously ill from the demon’s
attack. Sam says it will only be ten minutes to the
hospital. John is angry at Sam for not shooting him
to kill the demon. He says I thought you understood
that came before everything. Sammy shakes his head and
says No sir, not before everything.’ He says they
still have a bullet and can’t start over…
WHAM! Before anyone can reply a semi unexpectedly side
swipes the Impala, pushing it forward in a crumpled
heap. We see the driver of the rig was possessed by
the blackness of his eyes.
Impala Interior- All three Winchesters are unconscious
and blood spattered- at least, we hope they’re
just unconscious…
Scene plays out to ‘Bad Moon Rising.’
