Dean is sitting on a dock by a lake, fishing. He looks happy and relaxed. There is a flutter of wings suddenly, and Castiel is standing beside him. “We need to talk,” he says seriously. Dean sighs. “I’m dreaming, aren’t I?” “It’s not safe here. Someplace more private,” Castiel replies. “More private - we’re inside my head,” Dean says, looking at him. “Exactly. Someone could be listening,” Castiel replies. “Cas, what’s wrong?” Dean asks. Castiel pulls a piece of paper out of his pocket and hands it to him. “Meet me here. Go now.” Dean looks up, and Castiel is gone.
A second later, he wakes up with a gasp in his motel bed.
Dean and Sam are walking with flashlights down an old subway tunnel. “What did he say, Dean? What was so important?” Sam asks, sounding vaguely irritable. “If I knew, would I be here?” Dean replies. They head up some stairs at the side, and the station is all blown apart, sparks are flying in some places. “What the hell?” Dean wonders out loud. “It looks like a bomb went off,” Sam adds. The boys keep walking. “There was a fight here,” Dean says after a bit. “Between who?” Sam asks. Dean doesn’t answer, instead he turns around and shines his flashlight on the wall. “Check it out.” It’s a symbol, painted in blood. “Look familiar?” “Yeah it does,” Sam says. “Anna used something like that to wish the angels back to the cornfield,” Dean says. “So what - Cas was fighting angels?” Sam asks. “I dunno,” Dean replies. He turns and shines his flashlight around some more, pausing as he sees Castiel’s body laying amongst the rubble. “Sam!” The boys hurry over. “Cas?” Dean says. He shakes Castiel, and he wakes up suddenly. “What’s - what’s going on?” “Take it easy, take it easy,” Dean says, helping him up. Castiel sits up. “No - no!” He touches his chest. “Cas you okay?” Sam asks. “Castiel - I’m not Castiel,” Castiel says. “It’s me.” “Who’s me?” Sam asks. “Jimmy - my name’s Jimmy,” he says. “Where the hell is Castiel?” Dean asks. Jimmy shakes his head. “He’s gone.” The boys stare at each other.
Motel
Jimmy is sitting with the boys, in their motel. He’s eating as fast as he can. “When’s the last time you ate?” Sam asks. “I dunno, a month,” Jimmy replies, taking a drink. Dean watches with slight disgust, and Sam raises his eyebrows. “What the hell happened back there? I mean, it looked like an angel battle royale.” “All I remember is there was a flash of light, and then I woke up, and I was just like, you know, me again,” Jimmy says. “So what, Cas just ditched out of your meat suit?” Dean asks. Jimmy shakes his head. “I really don’t know.” “You remember anything about being possessed?” Sam asks. “Anything at all?” Jimmy nods. “Bits and pieces. I mean, angel inside of you, it’s kinda like being chained to a comet.” “Ah, that doesn’t sound like much fun,” Dean says. Jimmy nods. “Understatement.” “Cas said he wanted to tell us something,” Sam interrupts. “Please tell me you remember that.” Jimmy shakes his head. “Sorry.” The boys sigh. “Come on, what do you know?” Dean tries again. Jimmy thinks. “My name is Jimmy Novack. I’m from Pontiac, Illinois. I have a family.”
Jimmy’s memory - Pontiac, Illinois, one year ago
Jimmy is sitting at the kitchen table. He smiles as his wife and daughter walk in. “Claire?” he says quickly as his daughter reaches for some food. She smiles and takes his hand, as his wife does the same. They bow their heads, and Jimmy says grace.
Later, Jimmy’s asleep in front of the television when the signal suddenly goes. He wakes up and tries to fix it, but it doesn’t work. He gets up and walks over to it - there’s a ringing sound, and it’s getting louder. He puts his hands over his ears and falls to his knees, screaming as the ringing becomes deafening. He twitches, and then goes still.
Motel
Sam and Dean are outside the motel, at the Impala, while Jimmy is inside. “So what do we do?” Sam asks. “What do you mean? The guy’s got a family. We buy him a bus ticket. Send him home,” Dean replies firmly. “I don’t know about that,” Sam says. “Dean, he’s the only lead we got.” “He doesn’t know anything,” Dean argues. “Are you a hundred percent about that?” Sam asks. Dean stares. “You think he’s lying? What, you wanna go Guantanomo on the guy?” “Dean, maybe he doesn’t even know what he knows,” Sam says. “Huh?” Dean squints at him. “I say at least we get him to Bobby’s,” Sam suggests. “Maybe all he needs is hypnosis, or a psychic, or... hell, maybe Cas will just drop back into him!” “I dunno man,” Dean says, looking away. “Dean, back there, that was angel on angel violence,” Sam says. “Now I dunno what’s going on, but it’s big! And we can’t just let the only lead we’ve got skip out!” Dean shakes his head. “What?” Sam asks. “Remember when our job was helping people? Like getting them back to their family?” Dean asks. “You think I don’t wanna help him? I’m just being realistic,” Sam says. “I mean hell, we’re doing him a favour.” “How?” Dean says loudly. “Dean, if we wanna question the guy, you can damn well bet the demons do too,” Sam reminds him.
“What the hell are you talking about I can’t go home?” Jimmy asks, glaring. “There’s a good chance you have a bull’s eye on your back,” Dean explains as Sam watches. “What? From who?” Jimmy asks incredulously. “Demons,” Dean says after a second. “Come on, that’s crazy! What do they want with me?” Jimmy asks. “I dunno. Information, maybe,” Dean offers. “I don’t know anything!” Jimmy says loudly. “I know, but...” Dean begins. “Look, I’m done, okay? With demons, angels, all of it. I just wanna go home,” Jimmy says, walking closer. “We understand that,” Dean begins. “No, I don’t think that you do understand. I’ve been shot and stabbed and healed and my body’s been dragged all over the earth and by some miracle I’m out and I am done! I’ve given enough, okay?” Jimmy says. “Look, all we’re saying is that until we figure this out, the safest place is with us,” Sam says, standing up. “How long?” Jimmy asks. “We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it,” Sam offers. Jimmy shakes his head and walks by him. “Where’re you going?” Dean asks. “To see my wife and daughter, okay?” Jimmy says. Sam stops him. “No, you’re not. You’re just gonna put those people in danger.” “So what, now I’m a prisoner?” Jimmy asks angrily. Sam sighs. “Harsh way to put it.”
The clock reads 4:34. Jimmy’s asleep in one of the beds. Sam is standing, he watches Jimmy for a second and then turns to look at Dean, who is laying on the other bed, also asleep. He takes a deep breath, and heads out the door. Jimmy opens his eyes and watches him go. Once Sam is out the door, Jimmy gets up. He opens the door, holding his trench coat, and runs away.
Sam is standing behind the drink machine about fifty feet away, holding a metal flask and breathing heavily. He takes off the lid and pours some demon blood into his palm, then licks it off, pours some more, and licks that off too.
Inside the motel, Sam is packing his bag. “Dean!” he says loudly. “Would you hurry up?” Dean walks out of the bathroom, brushing his teeth. He chuckles. “Sorry - this is funny to you?” Sam asks irritably. “Mr. Big Bad Prison Guard Jimmy McMoop gives you the slip? Yeah it’s pretty funny. What were you doing, anyway?” Dean asks. “I was getting a Coke,” Sam snaps, not looking at him. “Was it a refreshing Coke?” Dean asks. “Can we just go? Please?” Sam asks. Dean heads back to the bathroom.
Jimmy’s on a bus, heading home.
Jimmy’s memory
Jimmy is chopping vegetables at the counter when the ringing starts up again, this time on the stereo. He walks over and puts his hand on the top, listening.
Jimmy stands with his bare hand in a pot of boiling water, looking interested. His wife walks in, holding some groceries, and drops them in shock, rushing forward. “What the hell are you doing?” she cries. “It’s okay - I’m okay,” he replies, taking his hand out. He’s not burned at all. “Jimmy!” she says. “What is wrong with you?” “Nothing’s wrong - he asked me to do it,” Jimmy replies. “Who asked you to do it?” she asks, looking around. Jimmy stares at his hand. “Castiel. To prove my faith. Look - I’m fine. It’s a miracle.” “Who’s Castiel?” his wife asks.
On the road
The boys are driving. “Hey guys,” Anna says, appearing in the back seat. “Whoa! Jeez!” Dean quickly gets the car back under control. “Smooth,” she says. “You ever try calling ahead?” Dean snaps. “I like the element of surprise,” Anna says. Dean looks at her. “You look terrific.” “Um, yeah - not the most appropriate time, Dean,” she replies. “You let Jimmy get away?” “Talk to Ginormo here,” Dean replies, pointing at Sam. Anna looks at him. “Sam? You seem... different.” “Me? I dunno - a haircut?” Sam offers. “That’s not what I’m talking about,” she says, still staring at him. Sam looks away. “So - what did Jimmy tell you?” she asks. “He remember anything?” “Why, what’s going on?” Dean asks. “It’s Cas. He got sent back home,” she says. “Well, more like dragged back.” “To Heaven?” Dean asks. “That’s not a good thing?” “No! That’s a very bad thing. Painfully, awfully bad,” Anna goes on. “He must have seriously pissed someone off.” “Cas said he had something to tell me, something important,” Dean says. “What?” Anna asks. “I dunno,” Dean replies. “Does Jimmy know?” Anna asks. “I don’t think so,” Dean says. “You don’t think so? Whatever it is, it’s huge. You gotta find out for sure,” she says. “Well that’s why we’re going after Jimmy,” Sam cuts in. “That’s why you shouldn’t have let him go in the first place,” Anna snaps. “He’s probably dead already.”
Jimmy walks up the walkway to his house. He looks at it for a long moment, then walks up the stairs to the porch. Through the window he can see his daughter, doing her homework. She calls her mother, and his wife walks over, leaning over to help her daughter.
Jimmy’s memory
“Take the pills,” his wife is saying. Sitting on the couch, he looks away. “I’m not sick.” “Jimmy? Take the pills,” she says again. She is standing across from him, holding out the bottle. “I know that this hard to understand, but he chose me,” Jimmy says. She looks down, tears in her eyes. “Castiel the angel?” “He’s spoken to me now, Ames. A dozen times,” Jimmy says. She looks up at the ceiling. “Hey, you believe in God, don’t you?” he asks her. “What kind of question is that? Of course,” she says, looking at him again. “And angels?” Jimmy asks. “Yes, Jimmy,” she says again. “So why is it so hard for you to believe that they’re talking to me?” he asks. “Jimmy, you sell ad time for AM radio, you...” she begins. “No, he said that I’m special. It’s in my blood,” Jimmy interrupts. “What does that mean, it’s in your blood? Hmm?” she asks. “He didn’t say. He just said that God has chosen me, for a higher purpose,” Jimmy replies. “To do what?” Amelia asks. “It’s God’s will,” he says. “Not really my place to question it. Hey. Come here.” She sits down next to him. “This is a blessing,” he begins, putting the pills on the table. “This is the most important thing to ever happen to me.” “I thought we were the most important thing to ever happen to you,” she says. “Hey - have faith,” he says gently. “Jimmy - you’re scaring me,” she says softly. “God will provide,” he whispers. “If you don’t take your pills, and if you won’t get help, then I’m gonna take Claire to my mother’s in the morning,” Amelia replies. She leaves.
A short while later, Jimmy puts on his coat and walks outside. “So I wanna help you,” he says, looking up at the sky. “I’m about to lose my family here, if you don’t tell me how. Please Castiel, just talk to me. What do you want from me?” Suddenly a light appears above him, and a strange whispering fills the air. He loosens his tie and listens. “Yes, I understand. Promise my family will be okay, and I’ll do it. Then... yes.” The light gets brighter, and the wind picks up. Then it’s gone. He looks at his hands. The door behind him opens. “Daddy?” Claire says. He turns to look at her, cocking his head, then turns away again. “I am not your father.” He walks away down the sidewalk.
Present
Jimmy rings the doorbell. Amelia answers it, and steps out, looking pale and shaken. “We uh... we stopped looking for you,” she says. “I’m so sorry,” he says. “You were dead,” she continues. “We uh - we thought you were dead.” He shakes his head. “I’m okay.”
Claire walks down the stairs and looks into the room where her mother and father are sitting. “Claire - room. Now,” Amelia says firmly, and her daughter goes. “Can I see her?” Jimmy asks. “Um... no,” Amelia replies. She is crying. “I don’t know yet. It’s been almost a year, you know.” “I know. I know,” he says. “Yeah. I think your daughter would’ve wanted to know you were okay,” Amelia goes on. “I was in a psych clinic,” Jimmy begins. “I just wanted to get myself straight before seeing you.” “Oh. And no telephones, or...” Amelia says. “No, you’re right. I’m... I’m so sorry,” he says. She just watches him silently. “But it’s all over now,” he says. “I mean, I’m really okay.” “What does that mean?” she asks. “I was confused, Amelia. I was completely dillusional. And I thought - I thought God was calling me to something, and I thought that it was important... and I was wrong. I was such an idiot. Heaven? Hell? None of that matters. The only thing that’s important to me is you and Claire.” She watches him silently still, another tear running down her cheek. “And I - I can’t undo what I’ve done,” he goes on. “But I just wanna come home again.” She closes her eyes for a moment. “I don’t know if I can do that. Not yet.” He nods. “I mean... whatever you’re comfortable with. Maybe we could start with something smaller?” “Like what?” she asks. “I dunno, dinner?” he smiles.
Motel
“Where the hell are you, Ruby?” Sam growls into his cellphone. Dean is outside, leaning on the Impala, far enough away that he can’t hear. “This isn’t funny anymore. I’m all out. Stop whatever you’re doing. Call me. I need more.” He hangs up.
Jimmy’s house
“Hi Daddy,” Claire says, smiling. “Hi baby,” he replies, and hugs her. “Okay, so we have turkey and roast beef... it better be okay, it’s all we have,” Amelia says, walking in and putting down a plate of sandwiches on the table. “Oh it’s fine,” Jimmy says, “More than fine.” They stand near the table. “Should we sit?” Jimmy asks. “Yeah,” Amelia says quietly, and they sit down. “It’s perfect,” Jimmy says, picking up a sandwich. “Daddy? Aren’t you going to say grace?” Claire asks. Jimmy’s eyes fill up with tears. “No honey, I don’t think I am.” “Why are you crying?” she asks. “Because I’m happy,” he says, smiling at her. The doorbell rings, and Amelia gets up.
At the door, Amelia lets in a tall man. “Am I crazy, or did I see your husband wander in here about a half an hour ago?” he asks. “Yeah, yeah you did, but Roger, now is not a good time,” she begins, but Jimmy’s already walking over. “There he is! Son of a bitch, what the hell happened to you?” Roger asks, hugging Jimmy. “Ahh... long story, but it’s over,” Jimmy replies. “I’m good.” “Can I talk to you?” Roger asks. “Can I get you a beer?” Amelia asks. “Yeah that’d be great, thanks,” he says, and she leaves.
“Buddy, you scared the hell out of a lot of people,” Roger says, as he and Jimmy walk into a different room. “I know, I know,” Jimmy says, smiling. “So really. What happened?” Roger asks. “Honestly? Worst year of my life, and you wouldn’t believe a word of it, but it’s all okay now,” Jimmy says. “I swear.” “Actually no it’s not,” Roger says, still smiling. “What do you mean?” Jimmy asks. “Well I mean I’m gonna gut your daughter while you watch,” Roger replies, his eyes going black. “Here you go,” Amelia says, walking into the room carrying two beers. Suddenly Jimmy hits Roger in the head, and he falls to the ground. “What are you doing?” Amelia screams. “He’s a demon!” Jimmy yells. “Jimmy stop!” she screams, as Jimmy continues to hit Roger with a candlestick.
Jimmy pushes his daughter and Amelia into a closet. “Where is it?” he says, searching the shelves. “Roger was your best friend,” Amelia says. “Roger was a demon, dammit!” Jimmy says, finally finding the salt and laying a line in front of the door. “Don’t cross this line.” “Jimmy, you thought you were better but you are so...” Amelia begins, but he turns and cuts her off. “I’m not crazy.” “You stay the hell away from us!” she says. “This is all very very real!” Jimmy tries. Amelia shoves him against the wall as best as she can. “Claire! Run!” she screams. “No!” Jimmy yells, but his daughter is already out the door. They follow quickly. “Dammit!” Jimmy whispers. Roger, blood running down the side of his face, is holding Claire with a knife to her throat. “Hey pal!” he says. “Told you I’d gut the bitch.” “Roger...” Amelia begins. “Daddy?” Claire says. “Just let her go, okay?” Jimmy says. “Now me? I would. But the missus... she has other ideas,” Roger says. A woman suddenly jumps on Jimmy from behind and throws him to the ground, hitting him over and over. She turns to look at Amelia, her eyes black. “Oh my God,” Amelia cries. She runs forward and grabs the demon from behind, but she throws her off. Just then, Dean rushes in and cuts Roger’s throat, killing him, and Sam throws out his hand, stopping the female demon in her tracks. “Go, get out of here!” Sam growls, and Dean rushes everybody out of the house. Sam is trying, but he can’t do anything to the demon. She smiles, walking closer. “Aww. Can’t get it up, can you Sam?” she says. “No but I can!” Dean says, rushing in, about to stab her, but the demon leaves her body. “Come on!” Dean says, and they run out of the house.
“Thank God,” Jimmy says, holding onto Claire. “Where’s your wife?” Dean yells as the two boys run up. “Right here,” Amelia says, running up. They all get in the Impala, and drive away as fast as they can.
“You were right,” Jimmy says. They’ve stopped driving, Amelia and Claire are asleep in the car, and he and the boys are outside. “Sorry we were,” Dean says. “But I’m telling you - I don’t know anything,” Jimmy says. “I don’t think they’re inclined to believe you,” Dean replies. “And even if they did, you’re a vessel,” Sam adds. “They’re still gonna wanna know what makes you tick.” “Which means vivisection. If they’re feeling generous,” Dean explains. “I’m gonna tell you once again - you’re putting your family in danger. You have to come with us,” Sam says firmly. Jimmy looks back at the car and his family. “How long? And don’t give me that ‘cross that bridge when we get to it’ crap.” “Don’t you get it? Forever! Demons’ll never stop,” Sam says angrily. “You can never be with your family. So you either get as far away from them as possible, or you put a bullet in your head! And that’s how you keep your family safe. But there’s no getting out, and there’s no going home.” Dean blinks and stares at him. “Well don’t sugar coat it, Sam.” “I’m just telling him the truth, Dean,” Sam snaps. “Someone has to.”
Claire is still asleep, but Amelia is watching her, awake. The car door opens, and Jimmy crouches down next to it. “Hey,” she says. “So... I pretty much owe you the biggest apology ever.” “No you don’t,” Jimmy says. “Yes. I do. I’m so sorry, Jimmy. And I will never, ever forgive myself for letting you walk out that door.” She smiles weakly at him. “Well, you did what any rational person would’ve done,” Jimmy says, smiling back. “I mean, hell, I thought I was crazy half the time.” She laughs. “So. Demons, hmm?” “Yeah,” he says, smiling. “Can we... can we even go home, or...?” she begins. “What are we gonna do?” “These boys are gonna get you a car. Don’t ask me how. And you’re going to take Claire to Sal and Carly’s as fast as you can,” Jimmy replies. “Wait - what about you?” she asks. He is silent. “No I’m - I’m not going anywhere without you, Jimmy,” she says firmly. “Listen to me. Every moment that I’m with you and Claire, you’re in danger,” he begins. “I don’t care!” she cuts him off. “We are not splitting up again!” “We don’t have a choice,” he says. “For how long?” she asks, after a moment. “Well, we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it,” he replies. She looks away, looking at Claire. “We’re family.” “They will kill you, Amelia. And they’ll kill Claire. You just have to get as far away from me as you can,” Jimmy says sadly. Dean walks up and stands a little ways away, and watches as Amelia hugs Jimmy, crying. He walks away, leaving them alone.
Sam hotwires a car, and gets out. “Okay so uh - here’s your car.” Amelia is standing nearby. Jimmy tells his daughter to take care of her mom, and then he and the boys get into the Impala and drive away. Claire looks at her mom. “Why is he leaving again?” Amelia looks after the car, then turns back and slaps Claire across the face, her eyes going black. “Cause it’s just not my day, is it? You little bitch.”
On the road
Jimmy’s asleep in the back seat. “What the hell happened back there?” Dean asks. “What?” Sam says. “You practically fainted, trying to gank a demon,” Dean reminds him. “Okay, I didn’t faint. I got a little dizzy,” Sam replies. “Okay, you can call it whatever you want, the point is, you used to be strong enough to kill Alastair. Now you can’t even kill a - stunt demon number three?” Dean says. “What do you want me to say about it, Dean?” Sam asks. “Well for starters, what’s going on with your mojo? I mean it’s yo-yoing all over the place! I’m not trying to pick a fight here, you’re scaring me, man!” Dean looks at him. “I’m scaring myself,” Sam says quietly. His cellphone rings suddenly, and he picks it up. “Hello? Who is this?” Then he turns back and pokes Jimmy. “Hey. It’s your wife.” Jimmy takes the phone. “Amelia.” He’s silent for a long moment, then “Oh my God.”
They all climb out of the Impala. It’s parked outside a big warehouse. “Alright, they’re expecting you to come alone, and that’s exactly what you’re gonna do,” Dean says as Jimmy pulls on his jacket. “We’ll work our way through the catwalks, we’ll be right behind you,” Sam adds. “All you gotta do is stay calm, and stall. Let us do our job,” Dean says. “You want me to stay calm? This is my family we’re talking about!” Jimmy says. “Listen to me, this will work. You understand? Nobody’s gonna get hurt,” Dean says. “Yeah whatever. Give me a minute, okay?” Jimmy says, walking off around the building. “There’s no way they’re expecting him to come alone, Dean,” Sam says. “You know this is probably a trap.” Dean nods. “Yeah I know. That’s why I have a plan.”
Jimmy walks around the back of the warehouse until he’s alone, then yells “Castiel you son of a bitch! You promised me my family would be okay, you promised you were gonna take care of them! I gave you everything you asked me to give, I gave you more! This is the thanks I get? This is what you do? This is your Heaven? Help me, please! You promised, Cas! Just help me!” Nothing happens. “Typical,” he mutters, and walks into the warehouse.
Inside, his wife is standing next to his daughter, who is tied up on a chair. “Hi honey,” Amelia says, smiling. “You’re home.” “Listen, I’m - I’m begging you here. You do whatever you want with me, but my wife and daughter, they’re not a part of this,” Jimmy says. “Oh they’re a big part of this, Jimmy,” she says, walking closer. “And P.S. - you should have come alone.” “I am alone,” Jimmy says. “Ahh, you’re such a liar!” she says. “Like I didn’t think you’re bring Hekyll and Jekyll, hmm?” Behind Jimmy, two other demons drag the boys into the room. “Nice plan, Dean,” Sam says. “Yeah well, nobody bets a thousand,” Dean says. “Got the knife?” Amelia asks, and one of the demons holds it up. “And you know what’s funny?” she asks, smiling. “You wearing a soccer mom?” Dean quips. “That I was actually bummed to get this detail. Picking up an empty vessel. Sorta like a milk run. Now look who landed in my lap.” She smiles at them triumphantly. “Yeah. Well. You got us. Okay. Let these people go,” Sam says. “Oh Sam. It’s easy to act chivalrous when your Wonder Girl powers aren’t working, huh? Now for the punch line. Everybody dies.” She raises a gun and points it at Sam, but then turns and shoots Jimmy in the stomach. He falls to his knees, already bleeding badly. Amelia turns back. “Waste little Orphan Annie.”
One of the demons starts forward, picking up a heavy metal bar. Just as he’s about to strike Claire, she suddenly looks up and puts her hand on the demon’s forehead. Light burns out of his eyes and mouth. Dean and Sam take the opportunity and start fighting the demons. The ropes burn off of Claire’s body, and she stands up, looking at Jimmy, who stares back at her. “Castiel,” he says. Behind them, Sam finally gets the female demon on the floor. Dean is still struggling with the other male demon, who is hitting him over and over. Claire walks over and puts her hand on his forehead, and the demon is killed. Sam cuts the throat of the demon he’s overpowered, and leans down, putting his mouth over the wound. He drinks her blood, then turns around. Dean and Claire are watching him. Sam looks back at Dean, blood smearing his face. Sam turns back and stabs the demon in the chest, killing her. He stands up and turns around, then puts up his hand. Dean flinches, but Sam is only stopping the demon who is possessing Amelia. He keeps holding up his hand, and the demon flows out of her mouth and onto the floor. Amelia is fine, she kneels on the ground, staring. Dean runs to help her.
Jimmy is gasping on the ground, near death. Claire walks up and kneels beside him. “Of course we keep our promises. Of course you have our gratitude. You served us well. Your work is done. It’s time to go home now. Your real home. You’ll rest forever in the fields of the Lord. Rest now, Jimmy.” He looks at her pleadingly. “Claire!” “She’s with me now,” she replies. “She’s chosen. It’s in her blood. As it was in yours.” “Please, Castiel,” Jimmy pleads. “Take me, please.”
Dean walks up, with Amelia. Sam is close behind. “I want to make sure you understand,” Claire is saying. “You won’t die, or age. If this last year was painful for you, picture a hundred. A thousand more like it.” Jimmy grabs her arm, bleeding from his mouth now. “It doesn’t matter! You take me! Just take me.” She looks at him intently. “As you wish.” She puts her hand on his face, and a bright light surrounds them. Light burns out of his eyes as Amelia watches in shock. Claire gasps, herself again, as Jimmy stands up, then walks over to the boys, past his wife. Amelia rushes to her daughter. Castiel looks back once, then starts to walk away. “Cas, hold up,” Dean says, and he turns back. “What were you gonna tell me?” “I learned my lesson while I was away, Dean,” Castiel says in a cold voice. “I serve Heaven, I don’t serve man. And I certainly don’t serve you.” He leaves.
On the road
The car is silent. Sam throws glances at Dean for a bit, but finally says “Alright. Let’s hear it.” “What?” Dean asks. “Drop the bomb, man! You saw what I did,” Sam says. “Come on - stop the car, take a swing.” “I’m not gonna take a swing,” Dean says quietly. “Then scream. Chew me out,” Sam goes on. “I’m not mad, Sam,” Dean says, not looking at him. “Come on! You’re not mad,” Sam repeats. “No,” Dean says. “Right. Look, at least let me explain myself,” Sam begins. “Don’t. I don’t care,” Dean cuts in. “You don’t care?” Sam says in surprise, looking at him. “What do you want me to say, that I’m disappointed? Yeah, I am. But mostly I’m just tired, man. I’m done. I am just done,” Dean says. Sam’s cellphone rings. “Hey Bobby,” he says, picking it up. “Hey - you and your brother better shag ass to my place, ASAP,” Bobby says. “What’s going on?” Sam asks. “The apocalypse, genius,” Bobby replies. “Now get your asses over here.” Sam hangs up. “What’d he say?” Dean asks.
Bobby’s place
“Thanks for shaking a tail,” Bobby says as they head towards the panic room. Sam opens the door. “Now go on inside, I wanna show you something,” Bobby says. “Alright.” Sam walks in. “So uh - what’s the big demon problem?” He turns around. Dean and Bobby are still standing outside the room. “You are,” Bobby says. “This is for your own good.” He and Dean close the door. Sam walks up to the door, looking through the window at the top. “Guys?” Bobby closes the window. “Guys! This isn’t funny!” Sam yells through the door. “Guys! Hey! Guys!”
