Plot
A
string of black deaths have been occuring in one strip
of road, similiar to that of what happened around 40
years ago. Hate crimes? Accidents? Not in the eyes of
Sam and Dean! One might see this as a boring, non-original
plot. I find it as a restoration of a brilliant, and
intriguing plot. I loved it, especially because it was
so realistic. Realistic in terms of the phantom truck?
Not at all. But realistic in terms of that could have
very well happened during the time when the south had
racial feelings. It was a plot that everyone could know
about, without having knowledge of any myths.
I
found the plot to be somewhat educating and as I said
before, realistic... 5.0
Characterization
Characterization
was good in this episode, how it was executed i'm a
bit iffy on. We finally get even deeper with Dean, seeing
he had a real relationship. Also I guess you can even
say we get more vulnerablity with Dean, because he told
Cassie the "family secret." Yet we already
see Dean and his characterization, I think we should
get more with Sam. I won't hold that against the episode
though.
Now
we are really getting under Dean's skin. Hopefully next
time Dean will open up on his own terms and not being
suckered into with an excuse like Cassie... 4.0
Romance
The
Romance was definately fun in this episode. Sam had
Jessica and Dean had Cassie. It nice to see Dean have
a substancial relationship. Also the awkwardness between
the two was fun to watch. Something that surprised me
was Dean finally got laid after 13 eps! Might have pissed
off the fan-girls, but I was proud of him.
The
Dean/Cassie chemistry... 5.0
Acting
Jensen
and Megalyn Echikunwoke (Cassie) performances fell kinda
short. We they were together, I think they did awesome
jobs. I guess they had good chemistry off the set as
well. But the scene where the truck was outside of Cassie's
house and Cassie called Dean, I felt Megalyn did a horrible
and unbelievable job. Two people that really did good
were Jared and Kathleen Noone (Cassie's Mom). Jared
did a great job throughout the whole episode. Kathleen
did a wonderful job with the scene where she described
what happened 40 years ago. She sold that scene so well.
It
seems Jared and Kathleen had to make up for the slack
of the other cast... 4.1 (82%)
Myth/Resolution
Now
I found this Myth to be a fun one. Normally the "spirits"
take on a human form. This time we get... a truck?!
Well ironic to some people I found it to be. That put
Sam's brain to the test to try to stop it. It was funny
how he figured out how to stop it. Even thought it was
merely guessing. What was even funnier was Dean's reaction.
Something
new and exciting. Perfect score... 5.0
